Galleries In The Gardens
The picturesque riverfront of Tea Gardens has inspired artists to reach for their brushes, their cameras and their clay since its foundation in the 1800’s.
And just over the famous Singing Bridge, Tea Gardens’ sister town, Hawks Nest, adds to creative juices with its spectacular ocean vistas and bay views from the northern shores of Port Stephens.
Then a meander up the river from Tea Gardens reveals a stunning lake system larger than Sydney Harbour and brimming with beauty for artists and visitors alike.
This unique, relaxed environment is also home to a myriad of fauna including koalas, kangaroos and giant goannas, and boasts birdlife species in numbers to rival Kakadu!
Because of the number of artists in Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest, many inspired by this beautiful area, Galleries in the Gardens (GIG) has been established. This not-for-profit community arts group works cooperatively with local business that display and sell their artwork thus creating a delightful village art experience. Funds raised go toward the further promotion of art.
The artworks are also presented in the outdoor gallery under the pavilion next to the waterfront at Tea Gardens Hotel every weekend in the summer holidays and fortnightly during the rest of the year.
Artworks are also dotted along the foreshore to create the delightful Myall River Art Walk.
