Inspiring location

Galleries in the Gardens, Inc. is a non-profit community collective of artists from Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest and the Myall River region.
The local area is renowned as an artists' enclave and for its abundance of natural beauty, situated in coastal New South Wales, Australia, just a few hours drive north of Sydney. This area is part of the Hunter and Mid North Coast regions north of Port Stephens
The picturesque riverfront of the historic Tea Gardens town, has inspired artists to reach for their brushes, cameras and clay since its foundation in the 1800’s.
And just across the Myall River, and the famous Singing Bridge, is Hawks Nest seaside town, adding to artists' inspiration, with its spectacular ocean vistas and bay views from the northern shores of Port Stephens.

Myall Magic & history

A meander up the Myall River reveals a stunning lake system larger than Sydney Harbour and brimming with beauty for artists and visitors alike. Bordered by the Myall Lakes National Park.
Then there's the myriad of local fauna including koalas, kangaroos, dolphins, giant goannas - and birdlife species in numbers to rival Kakadu! This area has a rich cultural history and has been a gathering place for the Worimi people for over 4000 years, making it well worth a visit. We acknowledge the Worimi people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we meet, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
